8/23/2023 0 Comments Thunderbird car 50s![]() On another occasion I would be happy to share stories and photos, as it is late. It is exactly as it was when it came from the show, right down to the lot stickers on the bumpers. The car I own is the show car, used for close up shots. The cars were originally scheduled to be destroyed in a crash scene in that movie, and were replaced by a Porsche (after some considerable lobbying by my father and his business partner who purchased these cars from Aaron Spelling Productions. It is true that the cars were used in the movie "Breathless" painted aqua. I am the proud owner of 1 of the 2 cars used in the production of this TV show. ![]() Here are some more from Season 1:Īwesome new main pic, night cub!! Love the other thumbnails too! Awesome car in an awesome show.they don't make either one like this anymore. Replaced the main pic with one from the pilot. I have the show on DVD, but to be honest unless I find a pic online somewhere I'm not sure how to post pictures here? And if I do find a pic online, I only know how to post the link.how do you get pics to actually show up here? If anyone (T-BirdLover?) has anymore pics of the Tanna T-Bird or his Vette from the first part of the "Pilot", etc.then pleae post them! Sicne you have all the seasons on DVD, wouldn't you like to add the vehicles yourself Hunterman? If there are any more, please post them here! tv boy is correct. But, the picture and sound quality is almost official quality! Those new pics of the T-Bird and Robert Urich (Dan Tanna) and the info bits to go with them are superb!!! Thanks so much for them. I LOVE "Vega$" and not only have the first season volume 1 on DVD (the first official DVD release of the show) but also the complete series on DVD!! The complete series set is not an official release but syndicated episodes from the cable network fx-from the mid 1990's. The day I was there he was in shorts and his white jacket and angry because the new engine they put in the car kept over heating, delaying shooting. They would pull over often to spray him down with water because of the high temps, he'd towel off and drive back down the strip. Robert Urich often wore Tennis shorts and sneakers and up top you'd see the designer shirt and jacket. With the Desert temps soaring it was 100 degrees or more when they shot these segments. A contractor worked out of there by day.it was behind the old Bank of Nevada Bldg.Īnother great shot of the Bird going down a near empty strip circa 1980.Īnother shot of the '57 headed down the strip. Tanna coming out of his kewl pad which was only used for location shots. I have posted more information on the "Vega$" page of IMCDB. I believe this one is the more stock version. There were actually two used in the show. ![]() I was lucky enough to see this bird in person in 1981 during shooting. Here is a pic of the "Vega$" Thunderbird. I have another that shows the crew standing around the bird looking at the engine, I'll scan it and send over the weekend. The third picture came from the fellow who owned both birds at one time and still owns one. T-BirdLover wrote We followed the production crew around for an entire day. It was blown up part way into the "Pilot" TV Movie and then he acquired his trademark red 57 Thunderbird!Īll next pictures belong to T-BirdLover's parents photo album. You can now enjoy Dan Tanna's crime-fighting/tire-squealing adventures, in his awesome red 57 T-Bird and amongst the bright lights and casino glitz of Las Vegas again, as on Octo"Vega$" Season 1 Volume 1 was released on DVD!! This includes the original "Pilot" TV Movie (which aired earlier than when the series started)! Tanna's first car was a yellow 63 (or therabouts) Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Yes.this car should have the most stars, since it is the lead character's car throughout the whole show! The 57 T-bird was almost as big a star of "Vega$," as Robert Urich was!įor another picture of this exact same car, but a different color, go to the movie "Breathless." After "Vega$" was cancelled the red '57 Thunderbirds were painted aqua to be used in "Breathless" with Richard Gere! Tightrope5 wrote Doesn't it get more stars since it's the lead character's car? I think the spare on the back for that time period is more sporty looking anyway, than having it in the trunk. ![]() The car and year is mentioned frequently in many of the episodes, too. Dan Tanna's car was a '57 Thunderbird.not a '56. but still had the option for the continental kit on the back end as well. In 1957 Ford did move the spare tire to the trunk. I would have said a 1956 (spare tire not in the trunk, well above the rear bumper).ĭoesn't it get more stars since it's the lead character's car?īen68 wrote I would have said a 1956 (spare tire not in the trunk, well above the rear bumper).
